I am a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. I have advanced training in mental health assessment, medication management, and therapeutic support for individuals of all ages. I work with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related issues, and ADHD. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard and respected.
Bruised Not Broken Therapy was born out of the lack of Afrocentric based psychotherapy that allowed people of color to embrace their journey of life through the context of color. HIV, substance abuse, mental health and the denial of the experience of being a person of color continues to plague communities of color, as we still have yet to talk about these experiences.
I have been supporting the emotional and mental health of adolescents and young adults for a decade as a social worker. I specialize in family intervention and working with separated and divorced parents. I love working with parents who want to improve their relationships with their children and also work well with teens and young adults on enhancing self-esteem and finding balance in life.
I enjoy taking a person centered, strength based approach to therapy. I like to spend time getting to know my clients, their view of the world, and the experiences that have shaped them. On the surface, substance use has been my speciality, but I find that substance use is typically secondary to underlying mental health or trauma related concerns. Because of that, I have experience in a wide range of concerns and practice with varying approaches suited to meet the individual client's needs.
I work with young women, millennials, teen girls, and young couples. I can support you to help build boundaries, work on relationships, learn coping skills to deal with anxiety & stress, talk through life changes & challenges, big decisions, small decisions, or anything else. I focus on family dynamics, generational patterns, and helping you choose the best steps to take moving forward.
With a background in Psychology (Washburn University) and a Master’s in Social Work (University of Denver), I bring both education and empathy to my practice. I specialize in supporting adults and teens navigating anxiety, trauma, and the challenges of living as neurodivergent individuals in a world that doesn’t always fit. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices that honor each client’s unique story. I also hold a certificate in Human–Animal–Environment Interactions, which deepens my understanding of connection, healing, and growth.
I believe that given the safety, support, and tools, we all have an innate capacity to heal and live full lives. I work with clients healing from experiences of trauma, abuse, and loss, as well as those managing burnout, anxiety, and depression. I specialize in treating trauma-related disorders, including those developed following sexual and intimate partner violence, childhood abuse, and traumatic loss.
