I am a serious and passionate clinician with a great sense of humor. I work with motivated individuals who want to improve their quality of life and change how they feel and struggle with codependency, relationships, self-esteem issues, complex trauma, and sexuality.
Hi there! I’m glad our paths crossed, and I’m excited to offer a safe space for you to work through whatever challenges life is bringing your way. I’m a Licensed Psychotherapist in NY and CA and a certified child-centered play therapist, and I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Zapf is a licensed clinical psychologist with experience providing care across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults. She specializes in diagnostic assessment and evidence-based therapy, with expertise in eating disorders, ADHD/ASD, perinatal mental health, trauma, sex and health psychology for individuals managing chronic medical conditions. She has a unique background with extensive medical knowledge in addition to a Bachelor's in Biology from St. Bonaventure University, and both a Master's and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Medaille College/University. Dr. Zapf completed her post-doc at Cornell University CAPS where she worked specializing in eating disorders, health psychology, and trauma. She is also highly involved in her community and serves on multiple boards.
I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely understood, not analyzed or rushed. My approach is relational, thoughtful, and collaborative. I take time to really get to know you, your story, and the patterns that have shaped how you think, feel, and relate to others.
I work with individuals and couples who may feel stuck in anxiety, relationship uncertainty, emotional overwhelm, or old wounds that continue to show up in the present. Many of my clients are high functioning, introspective, and self-aware, yet still feel conflicted, exhausted, or disconnected underneath. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
