It can be difficult to talk about things like trauma and PTSD, grief, anxiety and depression. People need to be able to discuss their concerns without feeling judged or misunderstood. My ideal clients are those who are focused on learning about their concerns and working towards healing.
Does your home environment feel tense or like you're "walking on eggshells?" Have you experienced pain, loss of or separation by a close family member or friend? Does parenting your children seem overwhelming and like a never ending battle? Do you wish these relationships would just get better?
Informed by the post modern Ackerman Institute Model for Family Therapy, I have been trained to give families hope and support so that harmony in the home, or in any relationship can be strengthened and restored. My clients develop the skills and tools to process their wounded relationships, to heal and repair.
Experiencing mixed emotions is appropriate when working through difficult relationships. It takes the courage on your part, as well as the support from a nurturing and experienced therapist to explore these sensitive topics. I invite you to reach out to me for a free 15 minute phone consultation.
Welcome - I'm so glad you're here! I know finding a therapist can be daunting, but it is so worth it when you find someone you can trust. Whether you are navigating a new challenge life has thrown at you or are choosing to tackle a longstanding problem, I would be honored to be part of your team. Clients from all walks of life are welcome. I value clients' diversity and aim to treat each individual as holistically as possible. If you are looking to grow yourself and your relationships into the best that they can be, I would love to meet with you and accompany you on that journey.
I have my BA in sociology from Haverford College and my Masters in Social work from NYU. I have my LCSW and have a background in doing home visits with families in Brooklyn struggling with mental health and substance use. I have four years post graduate training in Gestalt Therapy at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy and I have also studied Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy at the Center for Somatic Studies. I am a trained yoga teacher and have been practicing meditation for 10+ years.
It is my goal to empower individuals to recognize and embrace the strengths that live within them. I utilize evidence-based techniques to aid individuals with living a life filled with healthy relationships, self-confidence, and joy. I provide clients with strategies to combat life stressors, anxiety and depression.
Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work in community-based settings where I learned the skills to help clients overcome fixed mindsets and develop healthy behaviors to succeed both emotionally and socially.
Later in my career, I led new mom’s support groups to help mothers navigate this unique time of life in a supportive and non-judgmental community. I currently specialize in working with maternal mental health where I aid mothers in exploring many topics including a mother’s new normal, changing relationships with her partner, the baby blues as well as postpartum depression/ anxiety/ OCD, adjusting to returning to work, introducing a new sibling to the family, navigating new dynamics with older children and much more.
As a psychotherapist, I have had the privilege to work with individuals who are brave enough to openly discuss difficult life transitions and learn the tools to deal with them. It is truly inspiring to witness the tenacity of individuals who take the time to be the best they can be.
I believe my intuition and good listening skills as well as authentic ability to hold a non-judgmental space for clients are where my strengths lie. It is in this environment that clients have the chance to tell their story and learn how to realize their healthiest self. Once people are given the opportunity to express themselves with a caring and supportive therapist, change can lead to revelations that can lead to renewal.
