Welcome! Are you are looking for a safe space, with someone who is down to earth, direct and compassionate? Are ready to feel like you have more direction, peace and increased knowledge of who you are? If so, you are in the right spot. My clinical practice is grounded in the belief that we are all the experts of our own lives and we have the inner wisdom needed to create the life we want. However, many of us experience trauma, and other obstacles that lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, chronic self-doubt and a loss of purpose. If you find yourself wanting to achieve greater harmony in your life, to have a sense of peace, to move from a place of just surviving to thriving, then I am here to assist you.
Who am I and how can I help? My name is Shavon and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. Welcome to Grow Like a Girl, a space thoughtfully created with you in mind. For over a decade, I have supported individuals through life’s challenges, transitions, and moments of growth. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or major life changes, you deserve to feel seen, heard, and understood. I specialize in supporting women and teens through seasons of growth and self discovery. You do not have to do this alone. In a safe, welcoming space, healing feels more accessible and growth feels within reach.
I specialize in traumatic grief, religious trauma, and psychedelic integration, not because I studied them in a textbook, but because I've lived them. When my children passed away, I didn't just lose them; I lost my identity, my conservative Christian faith, and my understanding of the world. The grief was crushing, and my church community offered well-meaning platitudes that felt hollow. I faced a spiritual crisis that was as devastating as the loss itself.
My own healing led me to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, which gave me perspectives and tools that traditional approaches alone couldn't provide. That transformation changed everything. In 2024, I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research program after experiencing its power firsthand. I've been a licensed professional counselor in Texas for over 25 years and a counselor supervisor for more than 10 years.
I work with the bereaved carrying the weight of loss, ex-evangelicals navigating guilt and anger after leaving their faith communities, and individuals trying to make sense of profound psychedelic experiences. If you've felt like other therapists don't truly "get it," that's because these wounds need someone who has walked the same path.
