I am a fat and queer therapist who understands the importance of showing up as your whole self. At Whole and True, LLC, I create a space where all of your parts are welcome: the messy, the resilient, the grieving, the curious, and the joyful. My work focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ folks who are navigating eating disorders, trauma, OCD, and anxiety. I believe therapy works best when it is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection.
Hi my name is Mark M Miller. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and the founder of at Your Convenience Mental Health and Relationship Counseling (AYCMARC).
As mentioned in the highlight the answer to the above question is false. Behavior modification principles suggest that we can change our or others behavior through punishment and reward.
Systems theory suggest that any change in the system (family, group or society) changes the system. Therefore, a more truthful axiom is the only person you can willingly change is yourself.
After 20+ years in the mental health field I realize it is when a change to the system or when an individual change is when conflict, problems, symptom appear or worsen.
Real change therefore takes a commitment and an acceptance to the change by both the system and the individual.
This is why I created the 3 phases of the D.A.M D.U.D.E.
V.I, R.T, U, E approach
Stage 1 Reduction and management of symptoms, conflict or problem
Stage 2 – Explore how the solution (symptoms, conflict problem etc.) protects us and helps us survive.
Step 3 - Create Virtue and Transformation so the symptoms, problem are no longer needed within the individual and/or the system.
My approach assesses both individual functioning and relationships not matter if you seek relationship or individual counseling. As our individual functioning affects our relationships and out relationships affect our individual function.
My D.A.M D.U.D.E. V.I, R.T, U, E approach is a therapeutic tool box that integrates best practice and evidence-based practice along with the things that are on The National Counseling Exam (NCE) and National Marriage and Family Exam along with Trauma, Poly Vagal, Loss and Shame informed practices.
My D.A.M D.U.D.E. V.I, R.T, U, E approach is a true bio, psycho, social and for lack of better word spiritual approach that treats the person and the symptoms not just one or the other,

I specialize in helping clients navigate grief, relational anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, self-doubt, low self-esteem, and the pressures that hold them back from living fully. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and deeply personal. With experience in working with PTSD, social anxiety, identity struggles, and the impact of divorce, I’m especially drawn to those who are ready to face challenges head-on to thrive, not just survive. I also offer Christian counseling for those wishing to integrate their faith, but all are welcome!
