As an African American Psychologist, I work with people of all faiths, races and walks of life. As a Believer, I believe in the power of faith and therapy to help towards healing. It will be a blessing for me to help you on your journey.
As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and a proud graduate of D'Youville College, I provide a compassionate, faith-based approach to mental health care. My work stems from my belief that healing is always possible and that hope is a powerful force for change. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, I offer a safe, welcoming space where we can work together to rediscover your strength and resilience. I believe that setbacks help us grow rather than define who we are. Starting over, sometimes, is the bravest thing we can do.
It can feel daunting to begin therapy. You may know you are struggling with your relationships, work, or personal fulfillment yet it can feel difficult to seek help. In my practice, I will work with you in a safe space to explore and address the difficulties the prevent you from living a fulfilling life. I utilize eclectic approaches including psychodynamic, relational, existential, and attachment-based theories.
I integrate specialized approaches in my work with folks who identify as Muslim, Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space for LGBTQ, kink, and poly persons of color in my practice. I have personal and professional experience with acculturation and specialize in providing cross-cultural therapy for biracial/bi-cultural issues.
I work with adults struggling with anxiety, sexual disorders, chronic medical conditions, bereavement, trauma, and relationships.
I have been practicing as a Social Worker for over 38 years. I have a lot of experience in the areas of behavioral health services which includes a host of treatment focus areas and chemical dependency. I am energetic and enthusiastic about my work with clients. I am currently accepting new clients at this time. I like to incorporate in my work with clients self expression and self exploration. Outside of my work I love to engage in dance therapy, exercise for fitness, reading and sewing.
My approach is very relaxed and comfortable. I believe it is important to be genuine and authentic in any situation. I am also a firm believer in humor. I hope to create a super supportive environment: a judgement free zone. I am a great listener who specializes in assisting others to navigate stress, anxiety, ADHD, depression, grief, life challenges and transitions.
My background includes over 2 decades in child welfare and school social work. I have extensive experience working with children, teens, and young adults.
I believe in helping all age groups actualize their potential and goals. Utilizing empathy and therapeutic listening, this is a safe space to explore various life dynamics and how they impact your life. I specialize in helping people with a broad array of symptoms including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, and many other topics that cause distress or difficulty.
My path to becoming a mental health provider grew out of a combination of personal experience, professional curiosity, and a deep desire to help others feel empowered in their own lives. Early experiences with trauma shaped the way I understand healing, resilience, and the importance of having support during life’s most overwhelming moments. While challenging, those experiences ultimately planted the seed for what would become my career.
I am deeply interested in the ways people adapt, survive, and make meaning out of hardship. This led me to pursue formal training in trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, along with a commitment to ongoing continuing education. Over more than a decade of practice, I have supported individuals navigating trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, family violence, grief, and major life transitions.
Welcome! I am an empathetic practitioner who values creating a safe place for people to express themselves. I enjoy working with a variety of populations, however I specialize in supporting those who are differently abled or have chronic illnesses. I received my Master of Social Work at City University of New York, Staten Island in 2017. I look forward to working with you!
